Parts of the UK are bracing for thunderstorms after a weekend where temperatures soared above 30°C in some areas. The Met Office has issued thunderstorm warnings, with Monday expected to be the hottest day of the year so far
The weather shift is partly due to Tropical Storm Debby, which caused flooding in the eastern US and has pushed the jet stream further south.

The Met Office issued two thunderstorm warnings, stating, "Thunderstorms are expected to develop over western parts of the UK and move northeast during the second half of Sunday night, becoming more organized into Monday morning. While not all areas within the warning zone will experience them, an area of increasingly organized thunderstorms is likely to bring frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail, and short bursts of strong winds. Some areas could see torrential downpours, with 20-40 mm of rain expected in some places, and locally up to 40-60 mm in just 1-2 hours, with hail up to 2 cm in diameter. Thunderstorms are expected to clear towards the northeast by Monday afternoon."
